I finish reading the one page. There may or may not be a pop quiz tomorrow!
Don't forget to edit your superstitions and rituals essay and print off a copy for me to grade for a final grade. Make sure you complete the questions about "The Masque of the Red Death" by Poe. I will have another activity to go with "The Masque of the Red Death" so make sure that you have read the story and understand what it is about.
You have received your rough drafts of your superstitions essays. Please revise and edit. When you are finished editing and revising, simply print off a copy for me to grade. I cannot stress enough that if you did not explain yourself well, it will reflect in your focus and organization section of your grade. Be mindful of the comments. I apologize for taking so long.
This assignment is due by January 31. Over the weekend, please read the fourth paragraph of Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death."
Remember as you read you need to look at how the colors are arranged. What could the colors represent in this text? What do the colorful rooms say about Prince Prospero? We will discuss this on Monday. Please complete page 121 in your info binder. You have your notes on the story "The Lottery."
Also, if you did not turn in your homework from last night, I expect it tomorrow. I was disappointed in the lack of submissions for today. :( For homework, please read the rest of "The Lottery" on pages 119-120 in your info binder.
Then read the article "Humans are Genetically predisposed to kill each other" and answer the questions on the back page. I will take up these answers for a grade. Don't forget that you have a grammar review sheet over phrases. Do only activity 1. Remember that you have the left side of the last sheet in your phrases packet to complete for homework.
You will complete the essay portion of your unit test on Tuesday. I hope you used your time well today.
Remember that your poetry project is due on Tuesday, January 22, when we return. You already have this printed off, so there is no reason why it should be late. Multiple Choice test tomorrow! Make sure that you look over your poetry notes about the terms that you took before we started looking at poems. Read over the notes that we took in class to review what a poetic term looks like when an author uses it. Remember that it is more than just identifying the term. You must be able to determine why it was used and how does it impact the over all message in the poem (author's purpose). On the back of your phrases packet, you will need to complete the left side that says "Unit 3 review" by Wednesday January 23. All you have to do is label the underlined portion P for participle or G for gerund. We will go over this, but I still expect you to try. |
