English II Homework
Read chapter 4 over the weekend. If you did not finish your body paragraph today during class, please do so over the weekend. All you have to do is use the topic sentence provided for you and the evidence that you wrote yesterday and then add elaboration with evidence. This is where you all are the weakest, and this is how I am going to make you better.

Finish reading chapter 3.
We will work on body paragraph #1 tomorrow in class of your argumentative essay. You will use your articles and notes to create your paragraph, so don't lose your notes. According to your bookmark, you should read pages 29-34 in Elie Wiesel's Night. We are going to look at structure, punctuation, and purpose. Remember, even if I am not there, I have my make-up work folder with Mrs. Lovell or Mrs. Whitley. Do not use my absence as an excuse as to why you couldn't make up your work. Remember to read Night chapter 2 (pages 23-28) if you did not do so after CASE assessment today.
IF you have work to make up, you may go to the library at 3:15 and receive your work then. Mrs. Lovell or Mrs. Whitley will have your assignments. When you finish your work, you turn them in to one of those two teachers. DO NOT TAKE IT HOME. If it goes home, I do not grade it. Since no one has asked me to stay after today or tomorrow, I will not be available after school. Also, I will not be available for tutoring after school this Thursday, February 27. Remember that you will have CASE benchmark testing tomorrow. This is for a test grade. 1st block will go to room 404. 2nd block will go to room 410. Be sure that you have section 2 (pages 23-28) read by Wednesday, February 26. We will begin argumentative writing on Wednesday! It will be a topic that you all can be excited about. :) If you failed today's quiz (even though I announced yesterday that you would have a quiz), turn in a half page summary of pages 3-12 for partial credit. No copying from Sparknotes or another student--that's cheating.
Finish reading chapter 1 (pages 12-22). Make sure that you review your comma notes and the comma review worksheet. We will do a JE/DOL/Comma sheet for a grade on Monday. Read pages 3-12. The questions will be answered tomorrow during class, but if you want to answer the questions to guide your reading and comprehension, you may do so. Below is the audio of chapter 1. Follow along in your book as you are listening. Imagine being able to choose 10 things – only ten – that represent you and/or your life. What would those 10 things be? If this is not typed, it should be written VERY neatly.
1.The 10 Things that Make Me:
ii.How does this one thing represent you or an aspect of your life? 2.Who I am: On the back of your paper, write a paragraph in response to the following questions:
3.Final Farewell: Write/type a half page letter (double spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt. font) that you would want to be found with your items.

We will be in the library tomorrow so that you can do a webquest about World War II. Afterwards, we will go over commas and their usage. Hopefully, you will be able to begin reading Night by Elie Wiesel in class.
