Please read pages 25-26 in your info binder and complete page 27 PART ONE only!
You have had two days in the library and access to help with citing. You have your rubric with my expectations and how exactly I will grade. There is no excuse not to have your stuff on your presentation day. I cannot say this enough, READ the RUBRIC. Do the front and back of the comma sheet. No, it is not for a grade, but it is practice with your comma rules. When you turn this in tomorrow, I will make corrections and hand them back to you on Wednesday.
Write a paragraph about one of the rhetorical strategies Upton Sinclair uses in "Chapter 14" of The Jungle. Make sure that you expound upon the evidence that you use and determine how that impacts his audience and his purpose. Details, my dears, details!
Finish reading "The Jungle" in your info binder. Pages 50-53. We will do group work tomorrow.
Remember that I need your topic, not the entire speech, tomorrow! Write a paragraph about rhetorical strategy #2 (Allusions) in Catt's speech. Make sure that you address the audience, purpose, and intended effect.
On page 14 in your info binder, make sure that you have examined for rhetorical devices (parallelism and repetition, anaphora, rhetorical questions, and imagery) and figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification, allusion). How do those elements impact her purpose and audience?
On what type of rhetorical thinking does Catt mostly rely (Logos, Ethos, Pathos)? |
